12 years ago, In 2012 I prepared for my oldest daughter's 18th birthday. I thought long and hard as to what gift I could give her that would help her in her life as an adult and uniquely for her alone.   I decided to reach out to all my female friends in social media and in person to impart words of wisdom from their life experiences, in other words what advice would they give their 18 years old self, if given half the chance.  This was the absolute beginning of Gift Of Words.  

You see what followed after was an outpouring of letters and advice, such a treasure trove of wisdom, love and insights that it prompted me to create an e-book for my daughter. When she opened that e-book on her birthday, she cried as she told me it was the best gift ever. For months I spent a lot of time thinking what if we could do that for every young person as they made their way into adulthood, what if we could gift them the gift of our words, our history, our love and our lives in a book that would act as a guide as they made their way into adulthood?

It took time and money and as a single mom at the time I had neither. In 2016 I bought this domain and in 2018 I started our non-profit. In 2019 I lost our youngest at only 8 months and that was the catalyst to truly make this dream a reality. 

Our dream is simple, and anyone can help us. Just click on our donate button and donate your words of wisdom, your letter of hope for a young teen. in other words, what would you wish you could have told your younger self if you could back in time. If you are chosen, we will send you a copy of the book, we publish two a year, so you still have time for 2024. Once a book is published, we make it available on Amazon and other e-book outlets. We have also contracted to print actual books that can be customized for each young person. All profits from the book sale go to children's charities. Our goal is to ensure everyone gains the love of our cause, from the person who donates their wisdom, to the children who read it and of course the children who belong to the charities we send the profits to.
